THE Manorettes, the young singing and dancing girls who used to provide pre-match entertainment at the Manor Ground before Oxford United home games, have been brought back by popular demand.
The cheerleaders will make their long-awaited return at United's home game against Bristol Rovers at The Kassam Stadium on February 2, providing both pre-match and half-time entertainment with a new music and dance routine.
The girls are all aged between 12 and 16 and the new dance team has been trained, and will be presented, by Kelly Jane Poulter, owner of the Flair Dance Studio.
Said Kelly: "The girls are all dancers who have won competitions all over the country and they're having to incorporate cheerleaders routines, but it won't worry them, they're looking forward to it. The only thing is they've never danced on grass before, so that will be new!"
