Witney MP David Cameron wants the Government to maintain the current landfill tax credit scheme.
The scheme helps environmental and community projects.
In west Oxfordshire the scheme has given grants to the Wychwood Project and the Rollright Stones.
Under the scheme, companies investing in landfill can reduce their tax liability by making grants to projects.
The Government is proposing that 65 per cent of the money should go towards centralised recycling projects.
Mr Cameron said: "Landfill tax credits have been a huge success. The Government should listen to the old adage, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'."
