Thame United 1, Windsor & Eton 0
Thame recorded their second successive 1-0 Ryman League Division 1 victory with a well-earned win over strugglers Windsor and Eton on Saturday.
United got off to a flying start in the fourth minute through Justin Merritt, who slammed home the rebound after his header from Justin Lee's corner was parried by keeper Trevor Bunting.
Minutes later, it should have been two when Chris Potter was denied by Bunting, while Jefferson Louis also went close.
Louis did find the net in the 20th minute after Lee's corner caused panic in the Windsor defence, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Five minutes before the break, Potter saw his volley blocked on the line, and three minutes later, Lee was alert to head Dave Tilbury's effort off the line as the visitors had their first effort on goal.
United had to absorb some intense Windsor pressure, with James Saulsbury and Lee outstanding.
Tony Boot and John Palmer both had half chances for Windsor before United wrestled back control of the game.
Thame: Foster, Saulsbury, Lee, Brown, Williams, Merritt, Curran (Smith 65), Potter (West 80), Louis, Perna, Cort. Sub (not used): Avery.
