Wallingford clung on for all three Courage Combined Counties Premier Division points against title rivals Chipstead on Saturday.
Goals from leading marksman Andy Shildrick and Barry Primmer put Wallingford in command in the first half, but the visitors replied with 23 minutes left and then battled hard for an equaliser.
Pete Bryan was outstanding in the air for Wallingford, while Andy Parr and keeper Craig Rutherford also shone.
The win puts them four points clear at the top of the table.
