Fitter Herbert Hall fell in love with one of the wages clerks at the factory where he worked in Stafford.
Mr Hall, now 87, and his wife Lynda, now 83, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in Blakes Avenue, Witney, on Thursday.
The couple moved to Oxfordshire in 1955, when Mr Hall started work at Heythrop Park, near Chipping Norton, then a college for Jesuit priests.
Mrs Hall said: "We didn't know anybody when we moved here, but now know lots of people through the Catholic church and other groups."
The couple have three children and eight grandchildren.
Mrs Hall said: "Don't you believe all those couples who say they've never had an argument!"
