Ian Atkins is set to show tonight that he won't allow slackness to set in among his Oxford United players.

Although delighted with the U's display in a 1-1 draw at high-flying Rochdale on Saturday, Atkins was disappointed by the attitude and performance in training yesterday.

And one or two players could pay the price for letting their standards drop by being axed from the team for the visit of Torquay United to The Kassam Stadium.

Atkins said: "With all due respect to Torquay, I believe it's what we do that will count tonight.

"Monday's training session was one of the poorest since I've been here.

"I don't know whether that was because they played so well on Saturday, but I won't stand for players doing it one day and not the next.

"One or two of those who played at Rochdale, and played well there, could be in for a shock. I'll pick the team on what I saw in training yesterday, and to be honest, I wasn't happy with what I saw."

Atkins had hoped to return to 4-4-2, and may still do so, but it will be determind by the personnel available. Sam Ricketts and Jon Richardson, who missed the Rochdale game through flu and injury, are rated only 50-50.

Paul Tait will be sidelined for a week with his hamstring injury, although it looks no more serious than that.

If Matthew Bound is available to play, and Atkins chooses to go to 4-4-2, he could use either David Morley or Scott Guyett at right back.

Atkins said: "Tonight is a bigger game than Saturday to me because I am looking for us to maintain that same level of consistency - and we didn't do that in training."
