Oxford City Stars' unbeaten home record in the English National League was blown away as they went down 8-5 to Basingstoke Buffalo at the Oxpens Road Rink.
Stars were two up inside three minutes through Steven Cameron and Derek Flint.
Simon Beere pulled a goal back for Basingstoke following a defensive error.
But Stars restored their two-goal lead when Steven Cameron grabbed his second, before having to leave the game shortly afterwards with a broken nose.

Buffalo, one of Oxford's rivals for a play-off place, stunned Stars with three goals in a minute midway through the second period, with Dean Phillimore, Drew Campbell and Mark Jordan doing the damage.
Oxford levelled through Kris Abbott, but he was then forced out of the match through injury, along with Paul Donohoe.
Anthony Page put Basingstoke back into the lead in the first minute of the third period, and Beere completed his hat-trick with two further goals to seal Oxford's fate.
