The Jolly Postboys from Oxford gave a fine performance before going down to Bicester Civil Service in the Oxford Mail Quiz Knockout Cup competition.
The match was extremely close until the closing rounds when the Bicester team pulled away to win 72-62.
Apart from the Jolly Postboys, teams in the Oxford division had a good night.
St Cross College won in their match against The Kings Head (Haddenham) and there were also convincing victories for the Shelley Arms, the Woodstock Arms and the Rose & Crown.
Elsewhere, the Blue Boar (Chipping Norton) beat the Eight Bells (Long Crendon) and the Plough Inn (Kingham) overcame the Chandos Arms (Wheatley).
The highest score of the week came from the Red Lion (Haddenham) who won their match against the Clifden Arms (Worminghall) by an impressive 73-47.
The draw for the next round will be announced next week.
On Thursday, February 14, the league hosts the Mary English Memorial Cup quiz evening at The Cherwell Club, Kidlington, which is due to feature representatives from all the teams in the league.
