Hundreds of people packed Christ Church Cathedral in Oxford for a thanksgiving service yesterday for the life of former City Rector, Canon Norwyn MacDonald Ramm.
Canon Ramm, known as Mac, was vicar of St Michael at the Northgate Church, in Cornmarket Street, for 27 years. He spent ten years in Jamaica before joining St Michael's in the 1950s.
He was appointed City Rector when St Michael's became the City Church in 1971. He retired in 1988 due to ill health.
Canon Ramm, who leaves a widow Ruth, three children and three grandchildren, died at his home in Harwell on January 8. The funeral was held privately.
