Kevin Southwood hit a five-minute hat-trick as Bampton put their league worries behind them to beat high-flying Napier Rovers 5-1 in the Senior Challenge Cup first round.

Brize Norton came from a goal down to thrash Carterton Rangers 6-1. Davie Hamill's penalty gave Rangers the lead, but Brize equalised on the stroke of half-time through Colin Tyrell's free kick.

And they ran riot after the break with Mike Haines, Mark Hedges, Paul Coles, John Curtis and Graham Clarke netting.

In the Junior Cup first round, Swinbrook keeper Craig Trueman saved all three Bampton Res' penalties as his side won 3-0 on spot-kicks.

The match had finished 3-3 at the end of normal time, and neither side were able to score in extra time.

In the Premier Division, Minster Lovell goalkeeper Matt Helmsley rescued a point for his side with a long punt that flew into the Spartan Rangers net.

Andy Jamieson had given Spartan the lead, but Helmsley's wind-assisted kick beat the despairing dive of his opposite number for a 1-1 draw.
