Oxford Univ 33, Army 12
Oxford made light of windy and wet conditions to produce some exhilarating moves in their convincing victory over The Army at Iffley Road last night.
Star of the show was full back Will Rubie, whose searing pace sharp sidestep broke down the Army's defences time and again.
Oxford led 19-5 at half-time with three excellent tries.
Skipper Fraser Gemmell turned up on the left wing to finish off an excellent move, hooker Peter Nicholas was driven over from a line-out, and centre David Marsh scored under the post following a charge-down by scrum half Dan Taberner deep in Oxford's half.
Fly half Soushi Fuchigami added two conversions, with the Army's try coming from right wing Ben Taylor.
Rubie set the crowd alight by scoring a brilliant try after the break, going over from 40 yards without a hand being laid on him. Fuchigami added the conversion.
The Army, who had replacement prop Graham Howard sent off for stamping, scored a try through Mark White.
But Oxford had the final say when right wing Shaun Stafford went over from the last move of the match, replacement fly half Matt Honeyben adding the touchline conversion.
