Andrew Willis, of Magdalen College Junior School, Oxford, recorded a notable success in the London Under 8 Junior Championships.

He finished joint first, following in the footsteps of schoolmate Jacob Trefethen, who previously won the Under 10 Minor event.

Both boys also helped Oxon to victory by a huge margin in a four-county under 9 friendly tournament.

A 12-0 defeat of Bucks and a 9-3 victory over Berkshire were followed by a similarly emphatic 11- trouncing of Hampshire.

This success was matched by the county's under 14/90 team, who won their first match of the season 15-8 against Bucks.
