An Oxford University student will be riding high following a competition by city police.
Crime reduction officers in Oxford visited both Brookes and Oxford universities' freshers' fairs in October and held a free draw for students to win a new bike. The entry form also gave tips about cycle security and enjoying a safe night out in Oxford.
Jesus College student Molly Wood was the lucky winner from almost 1,000 entries, was presented with her bike by Nasir Salehi, owner of Cyclo Analysts in Cowley Road, who donated the prize.
The top tips for cycle security were:
Always buy a good quality D lock
Always secure your bike by the main frame
Avoid quick release wheels unless you really need them
Never carry loose property on your bicycle.
The police also gave out an information leaflet about mobile phone security, along with ultraviolet marker pens and holographic security labels to mark handsets.
