Councillors are calling for speed limits on main roads in Bicester to be extended.
Town councillors want the limits on Banbury Road, Buckingham Road, Bucknell Road and Middleton Stoney Road to be revised so that the 30mph restriction covers the whole town.
Councillors put their views to Oxfordshire County Council, which is looking at all speed limits for parishes within the Cherwell district.
Carol Steward, chairman of the town council environment committee, said: "We found that on some roads 30mph limits should be moved further out. For example, in Banbury Road the 30mph limit does not take in the main entrance to the new Bure Park housing estate.
"It should be moved out to the roundabout at the junction of Banbury Road, Lord's Lane and Southwold Lane."
She said there should be a similar change to the 30mph limit in Buckingham Road, by moving it to the roundabout at the junction with Skimmingdish Lane and Southwold Lane.
Mrs Steward added: "The 30mph limit in Middleton Stoney Road ought to start at the junction with Howes Lane rather than the Villiers Road junction, which is much closer to the town."
In Bucknell Road councillors want the limit to start at the railway bridge, to slow down traffic through Bucknell village from the M40 junction at Ardley.
Mrs Steward said: "We also wanted 20mph limits outside all primary and comprehensive schools and on the housing estates. We were told this would be unrealistic."
Town councillors hope to hear if their suggestions have been accepted soon.
