South West Division 1
Chinnor played without their usual fire as they slipped to a 19-9 defeat at home to streetwise leaders Weston-super-Mare.
After losing the toss, Chinnor found themselves playing with the strong wind at their backs.
But they had difficulty in getting hold of the ball in the first quarter as Weston denied them possession.
By half-time, Weston had built up a 10-9 lead thanks to a penalty and the conversion of a try in the corner by winger Simpson. Chinnor had to settle for three penalties from fly-half Louw Kruger.
When Weston increased their lead with a second penalty early in the second half, it seemed curtains for the home side, who badly missed Du Toit Serdyn and Mike Cook.
However, Chinnor's forwards rallied and were given fresh hope when Weston's tight head prop, who had already been yellow-carded, was sent off for persistently killing the ball.
The ensuing scrum close to Weston's line collapsed, a fracas ensued and Chinnor's Simon Matthews was sin-binned for retaliation.
Weston cleared the danger and added two more penalties to complete a victory by a flattering margin.
