The new Sainsbury's supermarket due to be opened in Oxford later this year will create 55 jobs.
As revealed onThis is Oxfordshire yesterday, the 7,500sq ft development, known as a Local Store, will be situated in the city's Magdalen Street.
It will take up the final part of the Northgate Quarter, which also houses Debenhams and Borders bookshop.
A Sainsbury's spokesman said: "Local Stores are a fairly new concept and focus on convenience for people wanting to top up their weekly shopping or picking up a bite to eat."
Work will start on the site next month and the store should be open by July.
The Sainsbury's store in the Westgate Centre is to remain.
The jobs will be among 10,000 jobs being created in the UK by Sainsbury's this year by extending and refurbishing stores as well as opening new outlets.
The spokesman would not reveal how many extra jobs would be created at its six existing Oxfordshire stores but said all stores would be refurbished, creating employment.
