The clock was turned back 100 years when Steve Baxter drove into office as the new captain of Frilford Heath.
The 49-year-old accountant, from Radley, is keen on the history of the game of golf and illustrated the point by dressing for Sunday's ceremony in Edwardian golfing attire.
Baxter is a member of the British Golf Collectors Society, and usually reserves this clothing and the hickory clubs for the annual English hickory championships at Rye.
His daughter, Anna, handed him a 'Brassie', the equivalent of a modern day two wood, and he drove the ball 165 yards.
Baxter, who plays off a 12 handicap and has been a member of Frilford for nine years, has chosen the Parkinson's Disease Society as charity for the year.
About £350 was raised for the charity from members who made donations to guess the length of the drive.
