A pedestrian died after being struck by a car on the A4142 Eastern By-pass.
The accident, involving a Saab 9000, happened between the Green Road roundabout, Headington, and Horspath Road at 4.50pm yesterday.
The man, who has not yet been named, was taken by ambulance to the John Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford, but later died in the operating theatre.
