Campaigner Bert Arnold was determined to put on a show when he won his eight-year battle for a bus shelter in Wood Farm, Oxford.
Not content with achieving his goal -- a shelter with seats in Masons Road -- he managed to persuade the city's Lord Mayor, Cllr Peter Moss, to declare it open. The shelter was funded by Oxfordshire County Council and Risinghurst and Sandhills Parish Council.
Retired car worker Mr Arnold has lived on the estate for 40 years. He praised councillors for their support.
"I have campaigned for this for a long time and want to thank all involved," he said. "I never give up."
