Ian Atkins has given a big vote of confidence to Chris Hackett after the flying winger produced an impressive peformance after coming on as a sub for Oxford United at Rushden on Tuesday.
Hackett's pace caused the home defence no end of problems, and he could now be given the chance to show what he can do over 90 minutes at Scunthorpe on Saturday.
Atkins was critical after the match of the way some of United's players are failing to listen to orders, but said that certainly wasn't true of Hackett, who has impressed him with his attitude.
"The only one that you can say has really been listening over the last few weeks is Chrissy Hackett," United's director of football said.
"He came on Tuesday night and put some good crosses into the six-yard box.
"Other players had chances to get the ball into areas where it can hurt defenders, but didn't do it."
Dean Whitehead was the one to take most of the stick from United's boss, but Atkins admitted was pleased with the midfielder's display before he gave away the free kick that led to Rushden's winner.
"I'm an emotional person and I'm desperate to win every time we play," Atkins added.
"When we lose, I'm desperately disappointed for the players and for the fans, who again supported us superbly.
