Parents, teachers and politicians are calling for a pedestrian crossing to be built in a road in Grove.
Wantage MP Robert Jackson is among those supporting a campaign for a crossing in Brereton Drive.
Campaigners have described the road as an accident waiting to happen, and claim drivers ignore the 30mph speed limit in the residential road. The road is used by pupils of Millbrook Primary School, off Denchworth Road, and Grove Primary School, in North Drive.
The last crossing patrol officer resigned after being knocked down on the road two years ago.
Parent groups want a pedestrian-controlled crossing to be built near a bus stop to help pedestrians, particularly children. The League of Friends of Millbrook School presented a petition asking for a crossing to Oxfordshire County Council's executive, yesterday.
Mandy Chapman, co-chairman of the group, said: "People just hammer down it at 50-60mph, it's horrendous.
"A lot of elderly people, as well as children, use the road. We need a crossing if we want to encourage children to walk to school."
A pedestrian crossing is due to be built in Oxford Lane, near the CofE school in Grove, and Cllr Zoe Patrick, who represents Grove on the county council, has backed calls for a crossing in Brereton Drive.
The headteacher of Millbrook, Peter Challow, said: "Children have to cross that road every day. It's only a matter of time before a serious accident happens."
