Thame's longest-serving licensee has retired.
David Barrington took over the Spread Eagle Hotel in 1969 when it was closed and derelict.
It will now be run by his wife Sarah and general manager Mark Baxter.
The hotel in Cornmarket was once owned by the eccentric John Fothergill, who made it famous in his Innkeeper's Diary.
The hotel has a Fothergill Suite and a blue plaque on the outside commemorating the former licensee.
Party guests included Euro-MP James Elles, and past hotel and restaurant staff.
