A new entrance is being built at a school in Didcot, to make it safer for pupils to cycle to school.
The £32,000 project aims to provide a safe route for pupils at St Birinus and Greenmere Primary School, both on Mereland Road.
Mike Cox, assistant headteacher at St Birinus, said: "It will provide an alternative route to school and enable more children to avoid the front entrance on Mereland Road."
The entrance is part of an initiative to encourage more pupils to cycle to and from school.
Oxfordshire County Council are delivering a guide, Cycling to School, to schools throughout the county.
The guide contains facts, figures, ideas for action and examples of best practice from schools in the county.
Mrs Davison said: "Cycling is healthy and good for the environment, but many schools are concerned about cyclists' safety."
