The Lord Mayor of Oxford has launched the city's annual clean-up operation.

Cllr Peter Moss officially started the Oxford Spring Clean Campaign which aims to tidy up the city's streets, with the help of volunteer groups and organisations.

Now in its 10th year, the campaign is part of an initiative designed to help people become more aware of their environment and take pride in the streets they live in.

Last year in Oxford, more than 3,500 people took the streets, verges and streams to collect more than 1,600 bags of rubbish.

Anyone interested in taking part can contact Oxford City Council City Works Department on 01865 252914 for information and advice on what they should and should not collect.
