Motorists were caught in a two-mile tailback on the morning of Friday, April 19, following a crash on the M40 near Banbury.
Two men were taken to The Horton Hospital, in Banbury, for treatment after their cars collided just beyond junction 11 on the southbound carriageway at 6.30am.
Both cars left the road but the drivers' injuries were not serious.
The inside lane was closed until the damaged cars were removed by recovery crews at about 11am, by which time the tailback had cleared.
