Two Oxfordshire hospitals are hoping to achieve top marks for cleanliness when a inspection report is made public.
The Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford and The Horton in Banbury achieved amber ratings last year under the Government scheme which grades hospitals along a traffic light system.
Managers at the Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust, responsible for the hospitals, have been working hard to improve standards and last year spent £200,000 on a range of schemes.
In a report to trust board members, head of facilities Trevor Payne said: "Both site visits went extremely well and although scoring cannot be formally announced at this stage, it is strongly anticipated that both sites have improved in performance rating."
Just over £48,000 was spent at the RI, including toilet refurbishment, courtyard planting and wall seats for the elderly in main corridors.
At the Horton, £91,000 was used on a range of projects, including redecorating the maternity unit, re-flooring and gardening work.
