A woman who attacked an RAF worker with a pint glass after a drinking session has been jailed for six months.

Elizabeth Hamill, 32, of Queens Road, Carterton, thrust her glass into the head of Killian Hallett, causing it to smash, and then hit him again with the remains.

Oxford Crown Court heard on Friday, April 19, that the attack caused two small cuts to his forehead, although there will be permanent scarring.

Peter Ross, prosecuting, said trouble flared in the Osprey Pub, Upavon Way, Carterton, on August 25. He told how Mrs Hamill's husband had a brief but "explosive" row with one of the RAF men from Brize Norton who were there.

Later, as she left the pub, Hamill went after Mr Hallett and attacked him with the glass. She was detained by an RAF flight sergeant until police arrived.

Hamill had denied causing assault causing actual bodily harm, but was convicted by a jury. She said she had been grabbed by Mr Hallett and caused his injuries by mistake while trying to get free. This explanation was dismissed by the jury.
