The repair bill following a wrecking spree by vandals in Wallingford has risen to £3,000.
Vandals attacked the pavilion in the Bullcroft park earlier this month, breaking hundreds of roof tiles, scrawling graffiti over the walls and ripping up netting around neighbouring tennis courts.
Initial estimates put the damage at about £1,000, but town clerk Andrew Rogers said quotes obtained since had totalled £3,000. He said: "Usually the town council can cover this sort of thing from its own funds, but this time we will have to claim on our insurance because the damage is so severe. Our premiums have gone up by 15 per cent this year.
"It makes me so angry that vandals could do this."
Wallingford's police chief, Insp Chris Parker, has appealed for any witnesses to the incident to call 01235 512929.
