Sculptor Gordon Young is soaking up the atmosphere of Bicester's historic Market Square.

He is part of a team which is working on improvements to the area.

Proposals for improving Market Square include re-routing traffic to create a large pedestrian precinct, and removing the car park.

Mr Young, who lives in Somerset, made another visit to Bicester this week to discuss the plans.

He said: "I have been to Bicester about six times before, and I am impressed by the range of buildings in the Market Square and the materials used in them.

"I have also been looking at photographic and historical books on Bicester for inspiration."

Much of Mr Young's work has been at street and pavement level.

He created the 'sunshine steps' at Morecambe, where a friend sculpted the statue of comedians Morecambe and Wise.

He has also done similar work outside The Globe Theatre in London, and in Hull and Plymouth.
