North Berks League round-up
A brace from Steve Bateman was not enough as Benson lost 4-2 to Kintbury Rangers in the final of the North Berks Charity Shield at Abingdon Town.
Bateman put Benson ahead early on with a 20-yard shot, before Kintbury hit back through Spencer Annetts, Michael Spence and Neil Williams.
Although Bateman grabbed his second goal, Annetts sealed the win.
Ardington & Lockinge are the Division 3 champions after fighting back to draw 2-2 with Grove Rangers.
Stuart Bartholomew and Ian Gordon gave Grove a shock lead, before Steve Norton and Dave Willis's penalty made it honours even.
Andy Farrell was the hero as he grabbed five goals in Buckland's 9-1 win over Long Wittenham Res.
In Division 1, Faringdon Town's hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a blow as they lost 6-4 at home to Saxton Rovers.
John Lovegrove, Robert Owen, Darryl Pugh and Simon Harrington were the Faringdon scorers.
A goal from Mark Kendall was enough as Childrey United won 1-0 at Long Wittenham.
Warborough & Shillingford clinched promotion to Division 1, with a 5-1 win at Harwell International Res.
Goals from Paul Churchouse (2), Alan Wellman, Gary Rudman and Nick Goodman did the damage, Rob Johnson replying.
Shrivenham Res beat Hanney United 4-0, with goals from Rob New (2), Nathan White and Tim Price.
In Division 4, Radley saw their promotion hopes shattered with a 3-2 defeat at Sutton Courtenay Res.
Lee Jones, Steve Hendy and Chris Brown scored for Sutton, with Mike Burton and Iredon netting for Radley.
East Hendred Res are almost up after a 4-1 win over Stanford Res, helped by a hat-trick from Pat Agula. Paul Sheldon also netted.
Leaders Northcroft can sew up the title if they get at least a draw from Benson Lions tomorrow evening.
