A BMW contractor assaulted a colleague by beating him about the head with a wheel brace, a court was told.
Albanian Neki Straka, 24, of Charles Street, east Oxford, is alleged to have struck Dwight Jackson on the back of the head with the implement and again on the forehead on October 30 last year in the car park of BMW at Cowley.
Another man became involved to break up the struggle, the court heard.
Mr Jackson said he was in hospital for 24 hours, suffered dizzy spells and took two weeks to fully recover.
Peter Ross, prosecuting, told the jury Straka admitted he struck Mr Jackson with the wheel brace.
But Straka claimed he was acting in self-defence and denies assaulting Mr Jackson.
The trial continues.
