Jumping over people and cars at high-speed is all in a day's work for Jez Avery, who will be performing mountain bike stunts on both days of the balloon fiesta.

An expert in the field of bicycle stunt riding, Jez has been racing mountain bikes since 1989.

He has had victories in various competitions including downhill, dual slalom and observed trials.

He holds the record for the British bunny-hop and has reached a staggering 19' 6" on a mountain bike long jump.

He said: "I used to race competitively and, without being big-headed, I couldn't win anything else -- so I branched out into stunt shows.

"This has been a great year. This time last year I did 14 stunt shows and I'm doing 43 this year!"

People will be amazed at his display of high-speed stunts and wheelies, including ramp-to-ramp jumps and springing over obstacles.

"I normally do two mountain bike stunt shows.

"In the second show I jump further by adding an extra person or car. I jump over people lying down, or people standing up, as well as cars."

Jez, who rides for Raleigh Mountain Bikes of Nottingham, has set several records including one for BBC TV's Record Breakers. "This was a ramp-to-ramp jump, and I had six cars in between each ramp," he said.

He has also set a Guinness record for jumping the furthest distance on a mountain bike.

Jez has performed all over the UK and has recently made a documentary about his occupation as a mountain bike stunt rider.

He has trophies to prove he is more than a car park trick cyclist.
