Most of the girls at the Bardwell Road school joined the fun, accompanied by teacher Tony Cooper, who played the melodeon and pipe.

School spokesman Caron Ogle said: "The May dancing is an old tradition, and is a welcoming-in of the summer.

"It is always a fun and colourful afternoon."
