Labour is to celebrate its Oxford election triumph with a clean-up blitz in the city.
The party will end charges for the collection of bulky items, and the recently scrapped Garden Scheme designed to help elderly and disabled residents will be restored and extended to non-council tenants.
Oxford City Council's new leader, Alex Hollingsworth, said Oxford had to learn the lessons of New York.
He said: "All the evidence in New York and in some parts of this country, shows you must go in and hit an area so people living there can see a discernible difference and then people will keep things up."
