Two days of balloon-filled fun are getting off to a flying start.

Oxford City Council organisers took hot-air balloons for a test flight yesterday morning ahead of the Balloon Fiesta this weekend at Cutteslowe Park, north Oxford.

The fun began at 6am this morning with the first mass balloon launch and continues all day until 9pm tonight.

Highlights include four-man parachute drops, gymnastic stunts and a Night Glow, with tethered balloons creating a colourful synchronised light display set to classical and popular music.

The Balloon Fiesta continues tomorrow morning with another mass balloon launch at 6am.

Hawkmaster will give a falconry and horse display dressed in medieval costume at 2.30pm and mountain bike stunts by Jez Avery will be performed at 5pm. The fiesta winds down with a final mass balloon launch from 6pm.
