Patrick Jobson emerged as a wounded hero for Oxford with a brilliant century in a crushing 152-run victory away to Buckingham in the Home Counties Division 2 West.

Patrick JobsonJobson, batting with a runner after he took a nasty blow on the foot after getting into the 60s, hammered 101 off 151 balls out of Oxford's 262-7 off 60 overs.

His innings included 16 fours and two sixes - the second over long on off Tarun Nethula taking him to his century in style before he became a victim of the New Zealand-based Indian leg-spinner, who finished with figures of 6-69 off 21 overs.

With newcomer Adam Cook providing good support in a third-wicket stand of 124, before another debutant, Graham Charlesworth, made a classy unbeaten 61 off 44 balls with three sixes, the Buckingham attack was put to the sword.

Another new recruit, Cornwall seamer David Angove, then took centre stage for Oxford, ripping out Buckingham's top order with a lively opening spell of 4-44 off 11 overs.

That left off-spinner Cook, with 3-13 off ten overs, and seamer Charlesworth, backed up by some excellent catching, to polish off the Buckingham innings for 110.
