Bretch Hill residents are leading the way at Banbury with plans to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
A £1,842 cheque from the National Lottery Awards-for-All scheme means that a series of events can go ahead.
The cheque was handed over by the chief executive of Cherwell District Council Grahame Handley.
Chairman of the Bretch Hill Community Association Sandie Dancer said: "Bank Holiday Monday, June 2, will be the main day. We will have a bouncy castle, barbecue, fancy-dress, jousting, best dressed king or queen competition, and a picnic tea in Princess Diana Park.
There will be craft stalls in the community centre, and the other events will move inside if the weather is wet."
On the Saturday before, people of all ages will make banners, flags, and bunting to decorate the streets.
A week later, there will be a family disco in the community centre.
A pantomime is planned for later in the year.
