OCA League round-up for weekend of May 11 and 12
Dave Prosper stole the show with a century as Cowley beat Tetsworth by six wickets in the first round of the Airey Cup on Saturday, writes BRIAN STANDISH.
Prosper made 118 not out and received good support from fellow new recruit Ryan Mills (32) as Cowley eased past Tetsworth's 209-5, to which Del Cyrus hit 92
Hook Norton won by nine wickets against Hailey, while Carl Needham took 4-18 for Marsh Gibbon as they bowled out Witney Swifts for 77.
In the Telegraph Cup, it was a day to bat second. Phil Slatter (51no) saw Stonesfield home against Uffington, while Andy Stiff (73) and Mark Ryland (32no) steered Deddington into the next round at the expense of Risinghurst
In Division 1, Broughton must have been confident having bowled Hanborough out for 145 thanks to Neil Gascoigne (5-21), and then reached 101-5.
However, Andy Williams (5-32) and Matty Gorman (3-9) mopped up the tail.
Tight bowling from Freeland tamed champions Westbury, while the batting of Steve Parker (81no) and Neil Hodgson (62no) saw Great Horwood home against Horley
The performance of the day came from Tom Cannon, of Steventon in Division 6.
Having scored 32 of his side's 151, he ripped the heart out of the Combe 2nd batting as he took four wickets in four balls to set up a 57-run victory.
