Labour city councillor Gill Sanders was taking office today as Oxford's new Lord Mayor.
The historic mayor-making ceremony was being held at Oxford Town Hall at 4pm, when the current Lord Mayor, Peter Moss, was to hand over his chains of office.
The new deputy Lord Mayor will be Cllr Maureen Christian, with Cllr Pat Stannard as Sheriff.
Cllr Sanders, who represents the Littlemore ward, said: "I am looking forward to my year in office, and I will work very closely with my deputy mayor. I was very pleased to be elected unanimously by fellow councillors. This is a great honour."
