Shipton-under-Wychwood, last year's runners-up, made their intentions clear as they bid to go one better with an emphatic eight-wicket win over visitors Challow & Childrey, writes Peter Fenn.

Having been put into bat, Challow made a good start thanks to an excellent 86 from new Aussie Steve Farrell.

Chris Panter (3-67) and Shaun Miller (3-51) applied the brakes, however, and Challow had to be content with 190-6.

An opening stand of 79 between skipper Paul Hemming (61no) and Steve Bates (40) got Shipton off to a good start, allowing Jason Constable (36no) to clinch victory at 192-2.

Run machine Manoj Parmar carried on where he left off last season with an unbeaten 101 for Thame at the expense of visitors Banbury Twenty.

New Twenty skipper Keith Arnold weighed in with 3-68, but he couldn't stop Thame reaching 201-4.

Some tight Thame bowling restricted the visitors, who held out at 143-7, with Dave Burbidge making 43.

New boys Aston Rowant came unstuck at home to Oxford Downs, who eased to an eight-wicket win.

Wesley Morrick led the way for Rowant with 47, but received little support as Luke List (3-35) and Paul Hebbert (4-1) shot them out for 131 in 34 overs.

Downs then cantered to 134-4 in 28 overs, despite the efforts of young Chris Watling (4-50).

Skipper Ross Buchanan was left to rue his decision to bat first on a wet Rover Cowley track as Kimble raced to a nine-wicket win.

The home side scored just 166-4, in spite of an unbeaten 66 from Reg Finch.

Adcock (100 no) and Ul Haq (48 no) then eased Kimble to victory at 169-1.

Dinton made a winning bow in the top flight with an eight-wicket win over Wolverton.

The visitors rattled up 225-8, with Butterworth scoring 103 and Paul Ludlow taking 4-54. Adrian Manger (40) and John Purcell (37) then laid the foundations for Dinton, before Tanveer Nadeem (71 no) saw them to 226-2.
