Ingenta was today celebrating its first profits after becoming the leading publisher of UK academic research on the Internet.
The company, which employs several hundred people in Hythe Bridge Street, Oxford, manages and distributes published scientific, professional and academic research via the Internet and develops and maintains specialist websites for publishers, self-publishing societies and libraries.
In the six months to March 2002, Ingenta declared a gross profit of £100,000, compared with a £3.6m loss last year.
Pre-tax losses were cut to £600,000, compared to £5.6m last year.
