Eynsham's oldest resident has been invited to mark the official opening of the new village hall.
Violet Warren, 92, of Hanborough Road, has lived in the village all her life and will cut a specially baked cake on Saturday, June 1, to tie the ceremony in with Jubilee celebrations.
Parish clerk Jackie Heath said: "We have invited prominent local people, like Lord Hurd and David Cameron MP, but we thought it a nice gesture to have someone who has been here all her life to do the official opening honours."
The new hall, built with a £346,000 Millennium grant, has been in use since September last year.
Meanwhile, the parish council is planning to raise another £21,000 to add two meeting rooms.
Thames Valley Police have said they want to use one as a permanent office for com- munity beat officers.
