Two Oxfordshire pubs will be changing their names for the World Cup.
Morrells staff prepare for the name change
The Fitzharris Arms, in Wootton Road, Abingdon, is set to become a designated haven for football fans and will be renamed the Sven Goran Eriks Inn from now until the final on Sunday, June 30. People wanting to avoid the football frenzy should head to the Great Escape, formerly known as the Bell, in Long Hanborough, near Woodstock, which has been declared a football free zone.
Allan Hymers, the area manager for Morrells of Oxford, who is responsible for both pubs, said: "We thought it would be a great idea to have one pub that is totally dedicated to football and the other that is a soccer free zone."
Goalposts and a penalty area are going to be marked out inside the Sven Goran Eriks Inn. Manager Vicky Gough has even renamed her dogs Posh and Becks.
