A popular Abingdon pre-school, which has served the town for more than 30 years, has been saved from closure, thanks to an appeal in the Oxford Mail.
Staff at Dunmore pre-school, based in the grounds of Fitzharrys School, in Northcourt Road, told parents they might have to make other arrangements for their children.
The problem was caused by difficulties recruiting a supervisor for the group.
But, after a newspaper appeal, five people applied for the position and the successful applicant will start in June.
Lisa Padbury, the group's acting supervisor, said: "We're delighted.
"The parents have been very supportive and are also delighted.
"If we had closed they would have to keep their children at home until they found another place.
The group, which looks after children aged between two-and-a-half and five, has two qualified staff and two helpers. Parents also support the group's activities.
Mrs Bradbury said the group hoped to take on more children in September when some join infant schools and more sessions are held.
The group began life in an old scout hut, in Farm Road, and moved to its council-owned temporary building five years ago.
Parents are charged £3.75 a session, but once a child is three they qualify for Government vouchers to cover the cost.
The group runs every morning, from Monday to Friday, and on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
From June 10, the pre-school will be open all day, five days a week, except for Wednesday afternoons.
