Leading scientists and engineers gathered in Oxfordshire to debate the controversial issue of radioactive discharges into the environment.

More than 100 of Europe's top nuclear industry experts attended a two-day conference at Harwell International Business Centre on gaseous and liquid radioactive discharges.
Dr Langley said: "Natural radioactivity from non-nuclear operations such as fertiliser production or oil extraction, which is vastly greater than discharges from nuclear sites, is ignored."
