A lecture will be given in Oxford to mark the annual Wesley Day celebrations.
In October, Westminster College, which has now merged with Oxford Brookes University, celebrated its 150th anniversary, triggering a year of events.
As part of continuing celebrations, the Wesley & Methodist Studies Centre of the Westminster Institute of Education has invited Lord Hattersley to speak at its annual Wesley Day celebration on Sunday May 28.
His lecture is entitled Ashamed of Nothing -- Wesley's Influence on 18th and 19th Century Society.
Lord Hattersley's biography of John Wesley is due to be published later this year.
Wesley Day commemorates John and Charles Wesley's evangelical conversions in May 1738.
The lecture there will be followed by a service at 6.30pm in Westminster Chapel, led by the Rev Inderjit Bhogal, the former president of the Methodist Conference.
The lecture is free and will be held in the theatre, at Harcourt Hill Campus, at 4pm.
