Ruth Brown Former Witney town councillor Ruth Brown, sister of the man who engineered the first test tube baby, has died aged 79.

She was born and bred in Witney, one of 11 children to the town's former registrar, Harry Steptoe. She lived in the area all her life.
One of her brothers was Patrick Steptoe, who made his name as a pioneering doctor.
Mrs Brown, who lived in Woodstock Road, served for seven years on Witney Town Council and was a member of the Liberal Democrats.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
