David Eachus David Eachus, who dedicated many years to promoting the interests of police officers in Oxfordshire, has died aged 70.
He joined Oxford County Police in 1953 and, later, Oxford City Police, which became part of Thames Valley Police.
He rose to the rank of sergeant and was a leading member of the officers' union, the Police Federation.
After retiring in 1986, he maintained close links with the force as secretary of the National Association of Retired Police Officers.
Mr Eachus suffered a heart attack and died suddenly while gardening at his home in Denton Close, Botley, Oxford.
He leaves a wife, Sheila, two sons, a daughter, and seven grandchildren.
