Dedicated minor injury units (MIUs) could be introduced in Oxfordshire as part of a project to modernise community hospitals.
Health workers were attending a conference on Tuesday, May 21, to discuss plans for the county's community hospitals. The move follows a report which concluded that the hospitals are out of date and suffering recruitment problems.
There are nine community hospitals based in Oxford, Abingdon, Bicester, Chipping Norton, Didcot, Henley, Wallingford, Wantage, and Witney.
Although eight have MIUs, Witney's is the only comprehensive service with links to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford.
Today's conference, which was taking place at Unipart headquarters in Cowley, was discussing whether MIUs should be improved across the county.
Bicester GP John Galuszka, who chairs the community hospitals project steering group, said: "We will discuss how we can improve and develop community hospital services, and how we can plan and manage them more effectively across the county."
