Television presenter Jeremy Spake was behind the till at an Oxfordshire bookshop after an employee won a competition.

The former Airport worker has tried some strange Jobs for his TV series and accompanying book, The Toughest Jobs in Britain -- including working as a sewer flusher and a turkey inseminator.

But staff at Ottakars bookshop in Banbury said he was a natural behind the till.

Mr Spake is pictured above with bookseller and administrator Sue Allen, who won his services for the day after entering a competition run by Boxtree Publishers asking people to describe their toughest day at work.

Mrs Allen described a chaotic day during the Christmas period when a lot of staff were on holiday, huge deliveries arrived, a child vomited and a customer asked for a signed copy of the Bible.

Everything was under control on Tuesday when Mr Spake served customers, signed copies of his book and helped put up a display.

Mrs Allen said: "It was great fun. He was very good with customers."
